Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)

NVR is the preferred treatment when parents report that family life is overshadowed by conflict, distress, or difficult behaviours. It suggests that children's actions are frequently rooted in emotional distress. The therapy emphasises improving parents' de-escalation strategies, bolstering parental presence, and fostering relationship connections, rather than resorting to punishment or control.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is the preferred treatment for individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, OCD, fears, and phobias. This practical approach examines how emotions and thoughts influence behaviour. CBT helps individuals confront their fears and challenges, understand how certain thought patterns can exacerbate issues, develop problem-solving skills, and learn calming techniques to manage difficult situations.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT can be beneficial for individuals who feel trapped, tend to overthink, or find themselves in patterns of avoidance. The essence of ACT lies in prioritising emotional management instead of suppressing, while striving to live in accordance with one's values. It encourages the exploration of skills like mindfulness, emotional flexibility, and self-compassion.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an effective method for individuals struggling with overwhelming memories of traumatic events. Often, these experiences remain unprocessed by the brain, resulting in lingering memories, or physical sensations long after the event has passed. EMDR facilitates a more thorough exploration of these experiences, always at the individual's comfort levels. As a result, memories can become less emotionally intense over time.

Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT is designed for individuals who feel overwhelmed by intense emotions and may have difficulties in their relationships. Initially developed for borderline personality disorder (BPD), research indicates that DBT can also be beneficial for those facing-harm, suicidal thoughts, and depression. The goal of DBT is to help individuals understand and accept challenging emotions, develop skills to manage these feelings and foster positive changes in their lives.

When we meet, we will start by examining how your past and present experiences have influenced your current concerns. I primarily utilise cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). In practice I take an integrative approach, incorporating a variety of therapeutic methods to best meet your individual needs.
